Counselling is a process where an individual, couple, or family meet with a counsellor to talk about issues or problems that they are experiencing in their lives. It is an engaging and purposeful connection used to understand client values, needs, and goals. Within the counselling process, the client and counsellor work together to enhance and improve the client’s well-being.
Vitality Counselling and Wellness ensures that all counselling is confidential.
There are some important exceptions to confidentiality:
1. If the counsellor has reason to believe that you are at imminent risk of harming yourself or someone else, authorities may be notified.
2. If the counsellor has reason to believe that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or harmed, authorities may be notified.
3. If your records are subpoenaed by a court order or if you are involved in litigation the court may subpoena your file.

Counselling can support with mental health and enhance your quality of life. Counselling can provide support and hope when experiencing stress. It is a safe space to express your struggles and a counsellor can support you with finding tools to cope with challenges.

Virtual counselling is easily accessible and beneficial for both the counsellor and client. Research demonstrates virtual counselling is just as effective as in-person counselling. It provides ease of access, convenience, and flexibility for clients. Most importantly, it can be done in the comfort of your own home.

Counselling expenses may be covered under extended health coverage. Please check with your extended health benefit provider.
Registered Social Worker (RSW) services can be claimed on an income tax return. Please check with your extended health provider to check if you are covered for Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) services. A receipt will be provided to you for reimbursement. We do not provide direct billing.

Please provide the counsellor with 24 hour notice if an appointment needs to be changed or cancelled. If the appointment is not cancelled or the counsellor is not notified of a change within this timeframe, you will be charged the full session fee.
